The Stratified SampleIn order to collect a valid set of data students needed to establish a stratified sample method. Ten study areas were to be investigated and these were chosen equidistant either side of the public footpath. To stratify the sample four sites were chosen in the planted wood and six sites were chosen in the natural wood. This reflected the 40-60 split within the woodland.A suitable sample is shown below:
