October blog: Site update
Thursday 12 October 2023
Welcome to our first blog for the IGCSE history site!
We will do a blog at regular intervals to keep you up-to-date with new developments on the site. And also to highlight any history anniversaries or news stories linked to historical events that would be good to share with your students.
Site update
Over the summer, we have updated topics and also assessment pages for the examination in 2024.
We have also added more detail to the Paper 3, Coursework section – adding extra hints and help to both students and teachers. And a sample high scoring course work with comments.

Student Access
With the term well underway now, don't forget that you can give your students access to the History Inthinking site as part of your subscription. This will allow you to:
- Give students direct access to the History e-book
- Create various types of tasks for your classes or for individual students.
- Give online feedback, monitor student progress, and view grades in the online grade book.
Details on how to set this up is on the left-hand side of the home page under the heading Student Access.
Anniversaries
This week sees the 50th anniversary of the 1973 Yom Kippur War. This has been made even more significant by the Hamas attack on Israel which was clearly timed to co-incide with this anniversary.
The IGCSE course does not cover the Israel-Palestinian conflict. However, given the events of last weekend, you may consider covering this topic with students so that they can understand more clearly the historical context of the shocking events taking place in Israel and Gaza at the moment.
Here are a couple of videos that give a good historical overview of the conflict:
