3. What was the impact of war on civilian populations in Europe and the Asia–Pacific?

The Second World War saw civilians being impacted far more extensively than in the First World War. Not only did the new weaponry, such as bombing, bring the war directly to civilians, ordinary people were targetted as part of the genocide aims of Germany and Japan. In addition civilians, in particular women, were mobilised on the Home Front.Note this section is currently being written and will be finished May 2023
