3. What was the impact of war on civilian populations in Europe and the Asia–Pacific?

The Second World War saw civilians being impacted far more extensively than in the First World War. Not only did the new weaponry, such as bombing, bring the war directly to civilians, ordinary people were targeted as part of the genocide aims of Germany and Japan. In addition civilians, in particular women, were mobilised on the Home Front.
