Getting started: Teachers
Welcome to the InThinking IGCSE History site!
We hope that you enjoy using this site and that it will help your students to both enjoy and succeed in the IGCSE Cambridge History programme.
We strongly recommend that you set up student access. This will provide all of your IGCSE cohort with free access to the site within the one subscription fee.
At the moment we have only covered Option B as that seems to be by far the most popular option. However we have taught both Option A and Option B and so plan to add our resources for Option A over the next year if teachers are interested in this - please get in touch if you would like us to do this!
With student access, your students will have full access to our e-text-book.
This will take students through the key focus questions and content needed for the core content as well as Depth studies.
Content
The content on each page is centred around the focus questions and specified content of the syllabus. Key vocabulary is highlighted at the start of each topic.
Activities
As you would expect with a text-book, there are activities alongside the content. This includes links to videos with questions, group work, source work and writing tasks.
Assessment objectives
Each activity is linked to one of the Cambridge IGCSE assessment objectives.
Writing tasks
Each page gives the chance for students to complete a written task on-line. These assignments are linked to questions from either Paper 1, Paper 2 or Paper 4.
The written task allows students to type a written response to a question within the page. For every written task there are hints to the student on how to answer the question.
The teacher grades the written tasks manually in the grade book. In addition you can annotate the scripts with comments.
You can also set questions of your own and manually add these grades into the grade book yourself.
Quizzes
Within each topic there are online multiple choice quizzes for students to complete online.
Students can access these quizzes at any time.
If you wish the grades to be recorded in the grade book then you must set the quiz as a task through task manager
Teacher notes
On the student pages you will also see extra notes for teachers regarding activities or resources for each topic.
As part of the student text-book we also have a section on study and revision skills to give students hints on reading and note taking as well as effective revision activities.
Under the Assessment heading we have given guidance to students on how to answer the different types of question on each paper. We have also given example answers and writing frames.
Under the teacher section, we have also summarised the key conclusions from the Examiners' reports.
The guidelines have all been updated for the 2024 examination.
For Paper 3, Coursework, we have given help to both students and teachers on how to meet the criteria for this part of the examination.
You will also find marked Paper 3 coursework examples
