December 2023 Updates and Notices

Dear InThinking IGCSE Economics subscribers

Welcome to the final Newsletter of 2023, highlighting some of the updates and notices to the website during the past month.

In November 2023, we welcomed our 70th teacher to the InThinking IGCSE Economics community - an extended warm welcome to Savita Mayasandra and Radha Rani from TRIO World Academy in India!

At the time of writing, we also have 601 students who have signed up for free access to the website. Subscribers can activate Student Access for their students from the homepage of the website. This enables students to access selected pages on the site that you choose to allocate to them. Once you activate Student Access for your classes, you can also assign tasks such as reading tasks, review exercises, MCQ quizzes (Paper 1), and Paper 2 exam practice questions – all included in your current subscription!

Some of the updates during the past month are highlighted below:

  • Did you know that Jakarta will no longer be Indonesia's capital city from August 2024? The economic reasons for this historical change can be found here in Unit 5.3.3 (The effects of changes in the size and structure of population on different countries).
  • For Unit 2.7 (Price elasticity of demand), a review video has been added here to support students with the chapter review questions.
  • A new Paper 2 Exam Practice Question for Unit 4.8.3 (Causes of inflation and deflation), along with the mark scheme, has been added here.
  • Additional Paper 2 questions can be found here in the Exams section of the website. Students might benefit from bookmarking this page for regular updates over the next few months as more Paper 2 practice questions will be added to support learners in preparation for their final exams.
  • The question bank for Paper 1 continues to grow each month. For example, a new set of Paper 1 questions and answers for Unit 6.3.5 (Floating & fixed foreign exchange rates) have been added here. There are 20 questions in total, each with an explanation of the answer to support students.
  • For Unit 4.7 (Employment & unemployment), an additional 60 MCQs have been added to the Exams section of the site. These have been split into three separate files, each with 20 questions and can be accessed here.

Finally, we know at InThinking that the strength and growth of the community of teachers using our sites rely on word of mouth. If you are enjoying the website, please share your insights through your own social networks. We are certainly keen on hear from you, which will help to guide the website's future developments. Testimonials for the InThinking IGCSE Economics can be found here.

In addition to IGCSE Economics, there are existing websites for IGCSE Geography and IGCSE History. There are more IGCSE subjects in the pipeline as well.

Wishing you and your students the best for the holiday season ahead.
