Jim Noble works as a Mathematics and Theory of Knowledge teacher at the International school of Toulouse. He has worked with IB mathematics since 2004 as a teacher, workshop leader, resource writer, examiner and curriculum developer through school, InThinking and directly for the IB. He has been involved with the last two curriculum development cycles writing teaching support materials and workshops and moderating online upskilling events.
Jim's professional focus has been on the principle that rich task design is at the heart of curriculum and planning goals. Students should have a variety of different classroom experiences to complete the big picture, but the tone is set by certain core task design features. This comes out in Jim's book 'Mathematics Lessons to Look Forward To' and in his website for IB DP mathematics applications teachers . Jim has also run a variety of workshops for teachers, students and parents all over the world through InThinking, the IB and freelance as well as conference sessions, always appreciating the opportunity to work and collaborate with new colleagues.
Since 2025 Jim works part time at school as ToK coordinator, DP mathematics teacher and a whole school responsibility for approaches to teaching and learning which gives him a great whole school perspective.
